Principal Report
Dear Fairview community
Can you believe it is almost the end of term 1! The seasons are changing and students and staff are heading towards a well-deserved break. We have a lot to celebrate this term with successful undertaking of NAPLAN, Swimming and Water Safety, Athletics Carnival and importantly the introduction of our new way of teaching reading in line with DECYP approaches.
Our attendance rates have dramatically improved this term and it is important that we keep this up as the weather shifts as “every day matters” in regards to being at school.
Thank you to our School Association for organising our Easter Raffle that will be drawn this week. We also have a number of other exciting opportunities occurring with a WestPac Rescue Helicopter visit, Student Leadership Forums and Free Dress day.
In term 2 I will be having a period of Long Service Leave travelling with my family. During this time Melanie Richardson will be joining us as Acting Principal. Melanie informed me that she taught at Fairview around 15 years ago so may be familiar to some of our community.
All the best for a safe and relaxing school holiday period.
Regards
David

Prep
In Prep, we have been practising creating patterns, continuing more complex patterns and developing our number work. He are some photos of our success.

2 Rush
2 Rush were lucky enough to participate in an Information and Technology lesson with the wonderful Mr McCarthur.
The students were busy being taught how to log onto the computer and then go into a program called Typing Club.
Once they finished, they were shown how to get out of the program and how to log off properly. We are firing up all their neurons and bringing the kids into 21st century – I think maybe they might even be there before all of the teachers

5/6 B
In 5/6B we have been working on a variety of skills to help our reading. Recently our focus has been on the book ‘The Last Fish’. After investigating new vocabulary, we broke the story down into its key components. This formed our planning to write a summary. Our wonderful students have now written some excellent summaries that are both brief but still contain the important parts that inform our reader.
